Why be a Nurse at Mosaic?
Nurses working with people who have intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) require knowledge in a variety of clinical skills. A unique aspect of IDD nursing is the responsibility of training and supervising of direct support staff. Nurses are always building their own knowledge base around the individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities that often have additional medical needs.
IDD nursing requires a combination of teamwork and independent decision-making. They are naturally problem-solvers and are able to juggle many things at once because they are so organized. Many nurses choose the IDD field and find it very satisfying. It allows the opportunity to step out of acute care nursing and into an environment of helping people make choices, grow and learn, and improve the quality of the lives of those with developmental disabilities.
