Many congregations, regardless of denominational affiliation, maintain strong connections with fraternal organizations. These groups are dedicated to providing both social and charitable benefits to their members as well as supporting ministries like Rejoicing Spirits. Such collaborations offer valuable resources and opportunities for congregational outreach and service.

Examples of Fraternal Support follow:

  • Thrivent Financial offers support to Lutheran denominations.

  • The Knights of Columbus actively assist the Roman Catholic Church.

  • The Knights of Peter Claver focus their efforts on supporting African American Catholics.

  • The Independent Order of B’nai B’rith is committed to Jewish welfare initiatives.

  • The Methodist Brotherhood and the Methodist Federation for Social Action work within Methodist communities.

  • The Mennonite Healthcare Fellowship provides support within the Mennonite tradition.

LaPrissa “Pri” Austin, who serves as a Community Relations Manager at Mosaic in Phoenix, has effectively harnessed the power of philanthropic Action Teams sponsored by Thrivent Financial to benefit the disabilities communities she serves. Her involvement began when a donor from Mosaic, who was also a member of Thrivent Financial, contacted his representative to designate his annual Thrivent Action Team grant of $250 in support of a Mosaic project.

This initial outreach led Ashley Hartman, the Thrivent Associate in Peoria, Arizona, to connect with Pri and inquire, “What is Mosaic all about?” Following an introduction to the various service lines offered by Mosaic, Ashley became a passionate advocate, encouraging Thrivent fraternal members to allocate their $250 Action Team grants to support a project for Mosaic.

Pri reports that Thrivent now provides annual support for Mosaic’s bingo event, has hosted a faith and family night, and has recently initiated contact to secure funding for their upcoming holiday party.

If your Rejoicing Spirits community has needs for items such as instruments, banners, meals, or resources for a holiday pageant, remember to explore opportunities with your congregation’s associated fraternal organizations. These partnerships can be a valuable source of funding to help advance your ministry’s mission and support your community’s special events.
